Blyss Buitrago is the Board Secretary of Guardians of Flushing Bay. She has been a GoFB Board Member since Winter 2019 and a volunteer since 2018. Blyss initially engaged with GoFB through her work as Community Partnership Manager with Billion Oyster Project, but her involvement quickly deepened through her perspective as a local Queens native and environmental justice advocate. Blyss has a BA in Marine Science from Boston University and a MsC in Natural Resource Management from James Cook University. As a marine biologist, community activist, herbalist, and racial trauma healer, Blyss brings a variety of life experiences and knowledge to GoFB’s work and programs.
